Today marked our first full day in El Salvador!
Follow me as I walk you through our day.
7:30 am–Wake up for breakfast
8:00 am– Delicious donuts (the cook gets the day off on Sundays, so we get donuts from the infamous Mr. Donut. Or as we like to call him, Senor Donut).
9:00 am to 10:30 am- service at the local church
11:00 am to 12:00 pm- Orientation
12:00 pm- 1:30 pm- Lunch at “the Corner,” a restaurant literally 20 feet from our housing with delicious food. We had pollo con crema (chicken with cream) with a side of steamed veggies and cantaloupe juice.
1:30 pm to 3:30 pm– Scavanger hunt! We were split into teams with the other group that is here. We had do random things around the city from give away free cookies, have coffee with a stranger, and high five at least five kiddos. We had a member of the Envision Wired staff with us to make sure we didn’t get lost and to teach us some phrases. It was a great way to see the city!
3:30 pm to 4:00 pm- REST!
4:00pm to 6:00 pm– Prayer at the church. We prayed for the goals and ministries the church leaders have been developing for the next three years. Ultimately, their goal is to get their church membership up to 135 members.
6:00 pm to 7:00 pm- Lauren, Denika, Skylar, Nancy, Cali and I enjoyed some homemade El Salvadoran chicken tamales! Well, Lauren, Denika, Skylar, and I did. Cali doesn’t each meat so she had pupusa instead!
8:00 pm to 9:00 pm- We had team time! We had some serious times and some not so serious times. We were all a little punchy, but we got some good quotes out of the deal! I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much during prayer. Good thing God has a sense of humor!
It is now 10:45 pm and everyone is winding down for bed. From 10:00-11:00 pm every day is “love hour” aka, get ready for bed because lights out is at 11:00 pm.
And that’s that! Our schedule will probably change after next week. Now there is a group of people from two different churches visiting, so we are joining them in ministry.
Breakfast is at 7:30 again tomorrow, so it’s time for this girl to go to bed!
Adios!
