I’m pretty sure I heard the voices of Angels. My team was able to go to Teen Challenge which is a ministry that is set up for people to come to and get help with addiction. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect as we drove to the ministry site. We walk in and there are about 15-20 men eating dinner. We sit and wait for them to finish. They quickly eat and put the tables away and then arrange the benches all facing the front. Pastor calls me up and asks me for the plan. Dramas. Testimony. Sermon.
A man gets up and prays for the service and then the singing begins. And for a room full of men, it was beautiful. Our team then performs our dramas, and after the testimony is complete and while the sermon is going on I look around and see a room full of Angels.
After the sermon we sing again- and this time it’s even more beautiful than before. And this is when I hear the voices of angels. Glorifying God. And this is a simple lesson, but God reminded me…God loves us all. Whether we are men or women. Whether we come from easy pasts or rough lives. Whether we have lived for Him forever, or are just getting to know Him or even to the extent that we don’t know Him, God loves us. God loves us with addictions. God loves us with our baggage. God loves us with our fears, our worries, and our drama.
God loved us so much that He sent His only son to die for us. On the cross when Jesus Christ was crucified were every problem, fear, worry, tear, lie, addiction… everything we ever had and ever will have that separates us from the Lord. And on that cross when Jesus died He took all of that with Him. He took it all. And because He did that, we can give it all over to Him and live our lives in freedom.
These men in Teen Challenge- God loves them. And it was great to worship with them and feel the presence of the Spirit and see the redemption in their lives as they cling to their Savior for help and freedom from addiction.
