You Make Beautiful Things

One week here and I am alreday  in love with the people here. Sometimes I forget how big this world we live in is, we get so caught up in our own live. But there are some incredible people here and they are all so welcoming and willing to let us into their homes and lives. Yesterday we went and visited some families of the students in the youth group of the church who didn´t make it to the service on Saturday.

One girl we visited had just lost her mother about a month ago and so we were able to go and talk and pray for her and her father. They were so happy to see us and even gave us these fried bread treats that had a syrup drizzle over it. These little treats are how they make a living, through selling them, but they were so generous and gave our whole group some.

Another house we visited had a young mother who had a baby 5 days before we came. She also had a 2 year old little girl and both of her children were beautiful. But the mother had been gotten sick and people were telling her that she was going to die, so she was very scared. Our group was able to pray with her and love on her and her children. It is crazy how powerful God is and how much His presence graces us we seek Him out.

Being in San Vicente, El Salvador, watching these people and others that we interact with everyday that are so disconnected from my world back home as made me pause. I look at the joy they find in each other rather than momentary things and pleasures. They don´t have big houses, cars, closests full of clothes, even electricity in some cases, but in their homes they have love and joy. Not only for each other but a sweet passion for their Savior, Jesus Christ. They are thankful for all God has given them. They relax and enjoy being alive and being who God created them to be.
