His Love Never Fails

Just a little background music. Enjoy!   Love. Love is patient.  Love is kind. It does not envy. It does not boast.  It is not proud.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  Although I'm only 18, I've been blessed with the ability to travel. Growing up with two wonderful parents that seek adventure and hidden places has brought my family to a lot of off the map destinations. Yes, I've known love and I've grown up with a great community of love, but it is only in these hidden destinations that I've found true...

You’re Already There

I sometimes forget that God is omnipresent. I mean it is God and I know that. But for me, I think it is harder to believe.  God was there in the beginning. All the way back in Genesis 1:1 and even before then. God is here now. With me as I sit on this front porch step in San Vicente, El Salvador. And God is there in the future. Whatever the future holds. He is there at the end. Victorious. I’ve really been struggling as of recently with these thoughts of God being here with me and guiding me along into my future. At times in my life, I have been so certain of what path God...

Arms Wide Open

Hey everyone! We only have one week left here in El Salvador, and we can all agree that we could spend the rest of our Passport trip here. We feel so welcome in the community and can already call this place our home. I will miss Carlos who has been our mentor and Oscar who has been our guide. The thought of leaving the community is already so sad. God has bigger plans and some of the people have encouraged me to come back.  Our ministry is not yet finished here though. Yesterday we went to a non-Christian school, in a village called Rio Frio, where we preformed our goofy skits, and...

I Am Free

I like to try and make you folks laugh. However, this blog isn´t going to do so. You see, I need to tell you about what God did in my life this week. It´s hard to tell you about because the beginning is something I don´t often speak of. But the ending is a happy one. It begins a long time ago… I was Depressed. I know this is a shock to many of you. But it is true. For many years I have had trouble with depression. I assumed that this was something I would always deal with. No one ever told me that this could be overcome. No one ever said that this might be an attack...

Proud to be Canadian

During my time here in El Salvador I have had the opportunity to not only get to now El Salvadorians, but also Canadians. The Canucks I have met make me proud to call myself one of them. They come to El Salvador with an organization called Shelter. They spend a week in the San Vicente area. In that week they will build anywhere from 4 to 15 houses. These houses are purchased by money that they have fundraised. All the homes are put up in nearby villages. They are given to people that desperately need better living conditions. Whe I go to visit these poor villages I see house after house...

Being Taught Through Teaching

One thing I never would have guessed that I would do would be to teach. Let alone enjoy it. But as I am learning about this adventure I am on, I can´t hold any expectations and I need to be willing to say yes to everything! So when our team was told we were going to teach English to kids from first grade to high schoolers, I knew that this was the time to be willing and to grow.       Our group split into pairs and went to different grades, so Mike and I headed off to teach third graders. We had a few minutes to pull together a short lesson...
