THANK YOU

I have three blogs sitting in my journal. I hate all three, and that´s why they aren´t up here. I hate them because I forced myself to write them. I didn´t have anything I wanted to tell you guy´s about. Believe me, we have done a lot lately, and there are a lot of stories. But there is nothing I felt passionate about enough to put up here. When I was trying to write, the same thing kept coming to my head, "Just say thank you." That voice in my head was right again. There are a lot of people in my life who deserve a big Thank you. So Thank you to…...

Wounded Spirits

I have had a hard time thinking of a blog topic this week. I´ve finally settled on one. I have been so excited this week because we have been given the opportunity to teach english at a local school grades 1st to highschool. I have had so much fun and I love everything about teaching and it completely confirms my desire to have that as my career. This week we split up into pairs and in the morning I taught 4th graders and in the afternoon we went back to the school and taught 8th graders. I noticed something quite interesting on that first day of teaching. While the 4th graders were...

2nd GRADERS

Life is crazy and life is busy. It is not uncommon for one of the members of the team to say "Oh Boy, That WAS THIS MORNING!!! Life is like that for us and we all love it!           One of the most humble and beautiful things happened to our group this week. We have been going to a school that is sponsored by Compassion Ministries and each student has a pen pal pouring...

Brokeness…

Preparing for this trip we have been told what to pack, what we should wear, how to act in certain cultural situations, how to be happy no matter what we are eating (which is sometimes questionable, like an iguana), but there wasn´t any training on how to deal with emptiness and the feeling of helplessness. Although there is much joy and laughter that happens on this adventure we are on, there are times when we feel defeated. This morning our groups walked about 25 minutes from our house to an area that was radically different from even our life here in San Vicente. About four years...

God´s Gifts

It´s true, God blessed every single person on earth with perfect gifts for us to use for His glory. And let me tell you, I am living with an extremely talented bunch! Just to list a few of MANY:  Mike´s sincerity and ability to share the Word; Moriah and Jamie´s pursuit of God´s will with the utmost integrity; Liz, Laura, and Madison´s bright spirits and ability to be friends with just about any one; and Alaina and Andy´s observation allows for amazing encouragment. It is so fun to see all of these gifts at work everyday! I have a tendency to doubt...

“MY day”

"Laura, you are awesome!" "Laura, I love that shirt!" "Laura, you can pull off a side braid better than Willie Nelson!" "Laura, you are great at communicating with the people despite your language barrier." This is what I heard on Wednesday. 2 Chocobananas  1 ice cream cup 1 peanut butter/sugar/syrup sandwich Offers for a teammate to wash my filthy feet. This is what was given to me on Wednesday. Literally picked up and carried away from my cleaning job at the church. A teammate served my food to me. My bed was organized and things were put...
