Does this beat SKYDIVING? 24 hour journal entry of my 19th birthday!

So this past Saturday & Sunday our team took a little journey to the jungle. Here is my journal entry of 24 hours of our excursion: "Wow it's been one heck-of-a past 24 hours. Luckily it's Saturday which means we got to sleep in today until 7:30  I woke up to my roommates (Madi, Laura & S'mores(Moriah)) screaming HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU OLD FART! YOU'RE 19! I finished packing up my bag for our overnight trip to the jungle and went up to breakfast to find the rest of the team scurrying around avoiding all contact with me while passing around a yellow...

13 X Matthew 18:5

When I was in school, I was one of those good kids. One of those nerds who always turned my homework in on time and studied hard for every test. And I had the grades to prove it. My dream for as long as I can remember was to work in the medical field. Clinics, hospitals and using all that fun science stuff with those big words no one ever understands. That was the desire of my heart and was I open to anyway God wanted to use me…. In that field of work. Teaching. Not really on my radar. Kids can be too much at times. And groups of them… woah slow down. But as we know, our plans...

It is worth $4

One thing I have learned here, is sometimes you see the fruits of your labour, and sometimes you don't. Literally… This realization came to me when Elaine (incredibly sweet woman of God!) said to me while I was watering the pineappes. "Oh Laura, we sure are going to think of you and your diligent watering when we eat these pineapples!" I asked the logical question, "How long does it take for a pineapples to grow?" "Oh, 2 or 3 years." She responded. My jaw hit the floor! I had no idea it took that long! I was thinking 2 or 3 months maximum! So no...

Broke at the Casino

Bar ministries. Something I have never done or really even thought about doing. But when we were told that we were going to be doing ministry at the casino, talking to the prostitutes (prostitution is legal here in Panama) I was nervous and yet so excited to see what God had in store. I wanted to have something tangible to give to the girls when we talked to them. So I made about 20 cards with verses on them to hand out and we also bought flowers to give out as well.  Our group headed into the city with David (the director of the YWAM base here) and I got more nervous the closer we got...

Praise the Lord for Polysporin!

Each and every night since I began my job here at YWAM Panama, I check my hands and feet for new cuts, scrapes, bites, or bruises. This is, of course, after I have washed of the obvious thick layer of dirt and sweat. While I am doing this there is one thing I can gurantee, I am smiling! You see, that is because I love my days here. Each day holds something new. I might be working with a hammer, rake, sledgehammer, pick-axe, garden hose, drill, saw, or broom. Talk about variety! Working on grounds has taught me a lot. It has also made me work harder than I have ever had to, in my life....

Back to the Bars

My purpose in writing this blog is two-fold. 1. to let all our families, friends, and supporters know a future ministry for our team. 2. to ask for prayer for ministry. A ministry that has touched my heart ever since having the opportunity to participate in is what I call ‘Bar Ministry’ which I had the chance to do with my time in Thailand on the World Race. I was at first pretty nervous to go into bars and talk to women who are labeled prostitutes. I also know my mom was pretty worried back at home only reading blogs about my experiences. But it didn’t take long for me to...
