Hmmm…

Costa Rica was our hardest month yet. We have all been punched in the face by Jesus.  I think the result of this was due to our expectations of immediate fruits and acceptance as the wonderful missionaries. El Salvador was beautiful for many things, and we grew  into such a great group. To where we could encourage each other all the time and everyday. We laughed and cried and lived our lives with joy. For me personally all those emotions we man made and built in response to the fruits that we saw immediately. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter...

I put on 50 pounds!

I have aptly named my big backpack "The Green Monster." Attempting to repack it yet again is one thing, carrying it is another! And my experience of getting to debrief was very different than the rest of the team. Each of them packed themselves and their things into the ZOE church minibus. While they were doing this, I was on a coffee date with two lovely ladies that a friend and I met while doing park evangilism. This was my last chance to see them before I left Costa Rica. So our team had the plan that two of them would send their bags, but wait back for me and take the bus with...

Costa Rica Video Recap

Our ministry time in Costa Rica is coming to a close. It was a great month. We did a lot. God showed up in numerous ways at all hours of the day. We are all pretty sad to be leaving this place. And the relationships we have formed over the past three weeks Here is a video recap from our time here. We all decided the song was the theme song for our month here. No hay mejor lugar- there's no place I'd rather be Quiero Mas de Ti Dios- I want more of You God It's time for a few days of debrief- relaxation and processing and then we head to Panama!

Reasons

Deborah stares at me with wide brown eyes as I try to explain that I won't be able to play anymore. "Mañana es mi ultima dia aqui," I say. (Tomorrow is my last day here) "Porque?" she asks. (Why?) "Porque yo necessito ir a Panama." (Because I have to go to Panama) She scrunches up her cute five year old face. "Porque?" I shrug unable to find the Spanish words to explain to her that I'm saying goodbye for more than a few days.  ———– As we come to the end of our time here in Costa Rica, I have ten good...

On the Streets

So, it's probably no secret to a lot of you reading this that I can be pretty quiet. I've likened myself to Mia Thermopolis (Princess Diaries) a time or two thinking if I just slip into the background, unnoticed, no one will get hurt. That was my philosophy. With that said, you can imagine the lump of of panic growing in my stomach every time I heard "okay team! Personal street evangelism today!"  OHNO. I'm going to have to go up to complete strangers and say something completely profound and life-changing about Jesus and also all in Spanish. I can't do...

Skipping school got us in jail

This month has had routine and a specific schedule. Tuesday to Friday is always filled with teaching from 8 till 2. That changed for just today. We left the school grounds at 8 and hopped into the ZOE church minibus. We would not be teaching, instead we would be visiting a jail for young adults. I have been to a lot of places, but jail is not one of them. I don't get in a ton of trouble. I didn't know how I would possibly relate to these young men. Everything that followed after our arrival completely shocked me. 15 men chose to come to listen to us. It was not forced upon them. We...
