"Laura, you are awesome!"
"Laura, I love that shirt!"
"Laura, you can pull off a side braid better than Willie Nelson!"
"Laura, you are great at communicating with the people despite your language barrier."
This is what I heard on Wednesday.
2 Chocobananas
1 ice cream cup
1 peanut butter/sugar/syrup sandwich
Offers for a teammate to wash my filthy feet.
This is what was given to me on Wednesday.
Literally picked up and carried away from my cleaning job at the church.
A teammate served my food to me.
My bed was organized and things were put away.
Encouraging and funny notes were hidden all throughout my things (still finding them!)
This is what was done for me on Wednesday.
You see our team is doing this thing where every now and then they choose one person to show crazy amounts of love and encouragement to for a day. However, they don't tell you when it is "your day." On Wednesday it didn't take long for me to figure out it was "my day." My team went way above what I deserve! I have never had that much love poured into me in one day. As we reached the end of the day, we gathered as a team. They had me stand in the center of a circle and after ruthlessly tickling me for a few minutes they prayed for me. As they prayed I thought over the day. I had walked, ran, sat, and even danced. I had talked, yelled, blushed and hysterically laughed. I had received love from compassion children, my team and God. I stood there surrounded by people praying specifically for me. A single tear found its way down my cheek. It had been a good day, a very good day.
