“Si…..?”

I LOVE kids! So when I saw kids at the village we went to visit, the whole day got a little better. High fiving them and watching them play soccer brought me so much joy. I left their dirt soccer field to visit with the people congregating at Carlos´s house. It didn´t take long before I saw the cutest baby boy. My love for kids took off again and his mother passed little Eric off to me.

In my limited Spanish I attempted to to strike  up a conversation the three women around me. I could tell they were asking me questions, but I didn´t totally understand what they were saying.

I panicked.

They obviously wanted an answer to their questions. What I said next seemed like a good idea to me. I uttered a simple "si" (yes). That satisfied them for a few seconds.

Another question came.

I chose trying out "no" this time.

More questions!

I alternated between answering yes and no. Finally when it reached the point when I was competely confused and they were laughing at me for some reason, I called on our translator Carlos.

Praise the Lord for translators! Turns out I had told them I was married with kids!! He explained to them that I was single, and definetly did not have kids! This did not impress the women. To her a 17 year old should at least be married.
