The Aftermath

I am sitting on the patio deck outside of a Barnes and Nobel stating at the glorious snow covered Rocky Mountains to finally try to make sense of the last four months. Hebrew 12 1-2  Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Set...

Heading Home

Today, we are all heading home to our respective places. We will spend a final team breakfast together, head to airport, say our goodbyes and part our ways. It seems quite simple. But there will be tears…and laughter. But we are ready. And there are really no words to express the thousands of emotions going on in each one of us this morning. These past 4 months have been great. An adventure of a lifetime. And we have all grown in incredible ways. And, God is calling us home (or simply somewhere else). To our families, friends, schools, and jobs. The trip again is just starting. Not...

Learnin’ from a Youngin’

I was a little intimidated by my Passport team since I was the oldest. But it was definitely a humbling experience and these little youngins mean the world to me. As I am trying to process my time on the field with this amazing team, the thought crossed my mind, “What did I learn from each member?” Welp. Here it is. Laura: The youngest person on our team, with an age difference of 6 years between us. Woah. But this girl. I tell ya. Never met a Canadian like her. I not only learned about the difference between a jersey and a Holstein and what makes a good steak, but also about...

Misfits and hooligans

Once Upon a time in the land of Georgia, a group of hooligans and misfits met. Although awkward at first it was soon apparent the adventure they were about to embark on was going to be a crazy one. They were not disapointed. I have spent the last 4 months in a very close community. These 8 people have become my brothers and sisters. Last night we were worshiping together. I had one arm wrapped around Liz, and the other around Mike. And I felt right at home with them at my side. My whole team has been by side through so much growth. Let me tell you about them. Jamie: Leader numero uno. If I...

It’s not a nap… It’s a N.O.P.!

4 weeks ago I brought an idea before the team. I was unsure of how the team would take it or if they would even agree to do it. A Night Of Prayer, also known as N.O.P. time. I should have known this idea would be well received!  It was decided! Each of us would take on one hour of the night to pray. By doing this we would cover the whole night with prayer. From 10 at night till 7 in the morning.  Little did we know what we were getting into! An hour seems like a long time right? WRONG! For most of us an hour seemed more like 20 minutes. We had a lot more to say to God than we...

The God of 2nd Chances

Our God is a God of 2nd chances. And 3rd. And 4th. And 5th. And well numerous chances. Just read through the Old Testament. Time after time God gives warnings. God teaches lessons. And God always leaves a remnant. He does this because of His immense love for us. And it’s not really anything we did, can do, or will do. But simply because of who He is and what we mean to Him. As our time in Costa Rica came to a close and debrief approached, questions arose about debrief and if it was really necessary. I was personally looking forward to debrief for a bed, warm showers and relaxation...
