Those Crazy Italian-Canadians

[I know when writing a blog, it’s important to keep it brief but every detail of this adventure is worth telling, so bear with me because I have quite the story to tell.] Today started like a normal day as we headed to the special needs home that we have been working at this week. After a difficult experience on Monday, we weren’t sure what to expect today but we figured we would continue the intense cleaning and had mentally prepared ourselves for a long day ahead. We arrived around 9:00 am and began to mop the courtyard floor. Denika, Nancy, Skylar, and myself were sweeping...

The Beauty of the Meantime

It’s no secret that our world is obsessed with “highlight reels.” We only like to show everyone our best. Our best pictures, best stories, best thoughts, etc. We figure any struggle or mundane moment is just not worth sharing, that those moments aren’t important. Wrong. Maybe these times aren’t as exciting but they are certainly important.  I think that’s one thing that I struggle with on this trip. It seems like everyone back home wants to see gorgeous pictures and hear stories of miracles that are happening but it just isn’t like that. Sure...

“I’m going to build an orphanage in Africa”

…-7 year old me. Growing up I had all of these adventures planned for myself; I was going to be an international spy, a traveling journalist…my latest adventure up until last year- I was going to teach English in 3rd world countries. Jesus <3's Baked goods

Baking its what I do and its what I love! God has giving me a gift for baking and I feel that I can use it any where I go. Just to raise all the money that I had needed for this trip besides writing letters and everything I took full advantage of my baking skills and made different pies, breads, cookies, and more. I am so blessed to have a skill for this because you never know when you might want something sweet or when you can just make something for someone else and just knowing that it might make their day. I have been wanting chocolate chip cookies but not getting a chance to make them...

This Is Us: Meet the Spring 14 CAX Team!

Hello! My name is Lauren Grunz. I’m 20 years old and I live in Dahlonega Georgia where I go to school at the University of North Georgia. This is my first trip out of the country and I am so excited to see the three beautiful countries we will travel to and meet some of God’s incredible people! And one time, I met Si from Duck Dynasty. I never actually talked to him, but he’s looking straight at the camera in the picture- so that’s pretty cool.   Hola amigos! My name is Cali Castaneda, I’m from Milwaukee Wisconsin, I’m a sophomore at University of...
