The Voices of Angels

I’m pretty sure I heard the voices of Angels. My team was able to go to Teen Challenge which is a ministry that is set up for people to come to and get help with addiction. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect as we drove to the ministry site. We walk in and there are about 15-20 men eating dinner. We sit and wait for them to finish. They quickly eat and put the tables away and then arrange the benches all facing the front. Pastor calls me up and asks me for the plan. Dramas. Testimony. Sermon. A man gets up and prays for the service and then the singing begins. And for a room...

Welcome To My Life

"Woah, wait, is this really my life?' That exact thought runs through my mind every day! Here is a list of when I have been blown away by my new crazy life this past week: -waking up and looking around at the 7 girls and all their stuff packed into a room smaller than mine at home. -eating the delicious food made by our funny translator/cook. -hanging out with my ridiculous team. -listening to the moving youth/church services -watching grown men fall to their knees giving their hearts to The Lord, not to mention these are men with serious drug and alcohol addictions.  -eating...

Lazy Hands

We have lived in El Salvador for a week now, and it is a beautiful place. Our team is great! We all have so much in common and have a lot of laughter and joy, and each one of us is eager to help in their own ways. Mike is the other guy on the trip and what a blessing he has been in the company of seven wonderful and beautiful girls.          A few nights ago we went to a village. At first we we so enthralled with the simple and loving lives these beautiful souls were living. It brought me back to the farm where cows were present and a pig...

Raw

We've only been in El Salvador for a week and only known each other for little more than that, but it feels like its been a lifetime.  Here God strips away the comfort of language and home, leaving only Himself and His Plans. I am learning this is more than enough.  This week I've met a lot of strangers, some of them have become friends, and all of them have a story. Though we don't speak the same language, I have learned that sometimes a smile and silence communicates more than any words I could actually speak, that listening whether I understand or not came be more...

Hola El Salvador!

Hello to all! So here I am, sitting at the kitchen table of Pastor Oscar's having some Zucarita's (Frosted Flakes) after a sunrise run with some of my team. It's beyond crazy to say that a week ago 9 completely different lives came together with two similaties–a desire to travel to Central America & a fiery passion to serve our Father. Our first couple days were spent growing and bonding as a team at training camp in Atlanta, Georgia. There we also got to meet all of the other Adventures in Missions Passport teams. There were 5 other teams headed to Uganda, India,...
