Football, is it just a sport?

Wow! That is all I can say to the presence of the Lord at the football court the other night. Not that I am shocked He turned up but in awe of his arrival and movement in the men there.   Emilio and I drove 10 minutes to a nearby village, here in Panama, called San Vicente. We played football, on a very difficult gravel pitch, for about 45 minutes with a group of men and as it began to get dark headed home. On our way home Emilio turned the car around and headed back to a different football court. This one didn’t seem as welcoming.   As we get out the car I notice teams of 4...

URGENT: HELP IS NEEDED

Don't worry. I'm not hurt, I don't need a direct flight home, & I don't need help raising funds to stay on the mission field. But this isn't an April Fool's joke. As most know, my team & I are staying on a YWAM base here in Panama for the duration of our trip. Down the street is a small private christian school that is partially funded by Youth With a Mission (YWAM). Jamie, Mike, Kaitlyn, Moriah and I have volunteered to be assistants and teachers at this school for six weeks. Thankfully I've been placed as an assistant to 1st grade with my...

Dear Mom and Dad

There are certain things about myself I would rather not admit. I do a very good job of ignoring soe truths. Exampes would be: I am now a coffee drinker, sometimes I fart, and I am stubborn. (telling y'all that was harder than you might think). But there is one thing that no teenager ever watnes to admit. We will deny it everytime. Until this moment. I am about to break one important teenager rule. I am going to say it… "Mom and Dad, you were right." Unfortunately enough, that fact has been made clear to me during my time away from home. The realization as hit me multipe...

Prayer Requests from YWAM Panama City

While we are here in Panama we are staying and working at the Panama City YWAM base, and one of YWAM's ministries here called the Doulos Christian School. The base has recently went through a season of hardship. Important key people had to leave for a variety of reasons. This has left them short staffed and worn out. God's tiing in bringing us here could have been better. Each of us are working in a position where we are desperately needed. We do all we can to help but even still this place has so many needs. So I am bringing before you a list of prayer requests. I would be...

I Quit Breathing for 15 Minutes

There are some days here when I know I am going to sweat. I know I will be covered in grime, and therefore I choose to wear "my work outfit." Tuesday was one of those days. Let me paint you a mental picture. Me, sitting on our "porch" in a cut-off t-shirt, and work shorts. If the fact that the shirt no longer has any sleevs doesn't make me look enough like a redneck, the big stain across the stomach from working in the red clay mud might. I am surrounded by filthy broken styrofoam ceiling tiles. Three of my teamates are behind me in the kitchen taking down ALL the...
